Rudiment Labs is seeking an experienced Senior AI Researcher to lead the development of novel algorithms for medical imaging analysis and cancer detection. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and impactful healthcare applications.

About the Role

As a Senior AI Researcher at Rudiment, you will lead our efforts to develop and implement innovative machine learning and computer vision approaches for cancer detection, diagnosis, and monitoring. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of researchers, clinicians, and engineers to translate cutting-edge AI research into impactful clinical applications.

Your work will directly contribute to our mission of transforming cancer care through AI innovation, with the potential to improve outcomes for patients worldwide. This role offers a balance of independent research, collaborative projects, and mentorship opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop novel deep learning models for medical image analysis, focusing on cancer detection and classification in various imaging modalities (MRI, CT, histopathology, etc.)
  • Lead research projects from conceptualization to implementation, including experimental design, implementation, evaluation, and publication
  • Collaborate with clinicians to understand clinical workflows and requirements, ensuring AI solutions address real-world needs
  • Develop approaches that account for real-world challenges in medical AI, including generalizability, interpretability, and robustness
  • Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals, and present work at internal and external venues
  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a collaborative research environment
  • Work with our engineering team to translate research prototypes into deployable solutions

Qualifications

Required

  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in developing deep learning models for computer vision tasks, with at least 2 years focused on medical imaging applications
  • Strong publication record in top-tier conferences/journals (e.g., MICCAI, CVPR, NeurIPS, MedIA, TMI)
  • Proficiency in deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow) and experience with implementing and adapting state-of-the-art architectures
  • Experience with medical image data (e.g., MRI, CT, histopathology, etc.) and understanding of related challenges
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant data science libraries

Preferred

  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaborations with clinicians or healthcare organizations
  • Knowledge of oncology and cancer imaging, or experience in projects related to cancer research
  • Experience with federated learning, privacy-preserving ML techniques, or methods for limited labeled data
  • Familiarity with regulatory considerations for AI in healthcare (e.g., FDA approval processes)
  • Experience in deploying ML models in production environments
