Research Intern
Rudiment Labs is seeking enthusiastic Research Interns to join our 12-week program. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside our researchers on cutting-edge cancer research projects, gaining valuable experience at the intersection of AI and oncology.
About the Role
Our Research Intern program is designed to provide hands-on experience in cancer research and AI applications to students and early-career professionals. During this 12-week program, you'll be paired with a mentor and assigned to a specific research project aligned with your skills and interests.
As an intern, you'll gain valuable experience in a multidisciplinary research environment, working alongside experts in oncology, data science, AI, and clinical research. You'll contribute to meaningful projects that have the potential to impact cancer detection and treatment, while developing technical skills and subject matter expertise.
This internship is ideal for undergraduate and graduate students in fields such as biology, computer science, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, or related disciplines who are passionate about applying their skills to cancer research.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will vary based on your specific project assignment, but may include:
- Assist with data collection, preprocessing, and analysis for cancer research projects
- Support the development and validation of AI models for medical image analysis
- Contribute to literature reviews and research documentation
- Help design and implement experiments under supervision
- Assist with preparing research presentations and visualizations
- Participate in research meetings and contribute to discussions
- Present your work and findings at the end of the internship
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in biology, computer science, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, or related field
- Strong academic background with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Basic programming skills in at least one language (Python preferred)
- Ability to work remotely or in Vancouver for the duration of the internship
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong interest in cancer research and healthcare innovation
Preferred
- Prior research experience through coursework, projects, or previous internships
- Experience with data analysis tools and libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn)
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Background knowledge in oncology, molecular biology, or related health sciences
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
